Andrey Sokolov was born on February 15, 1976 in Mytishchi, the Moscow Region.
In 1997, he graduated from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics with a degree in Marketing.
From 2001 to 2014, he was employed at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development;
In 2014-2015, he was employed at Russia's Ministry of Crimean Affairs.
Since December 2015, Sokolov has worked as the Advisor to TASS Director General.
Since October 2016, he has served as Deputy Director General at the TASS News Agency.
In 2019, he was ranked among Russia's top 1000 GR-Managers in the media business.
Sokolov took part in developing and implementing the following programs:
The federal program dubbed "Social and Economic Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region;
The federal program known as "The Development of the North Caucasian Federal District" for the period up to 2025;
The federal program dubbed "Accessible Environment for 2011 - 2015";
The federal target program dubbed "The Economic and Social Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region until 2018";
The federal target program called "The Social and Economic Development of the Kuril Islands (Sakhalin Region) for 2016 - 2025";
The federal target program called "The Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol until 2020";
The federal target program called "The Development of Physical Culture and Sports in Russia for 2016 - 2020";
The federal target program called "The Development of Domestic and Inbound Tourism in Russia (2011 - 2018)";
Mr. Sokolov has actively participated
in arranging and holding the APEC summit in Vladivostok in 2012;
in preparing and holding the 27th World Summer Universiade in 2013 in Kazan;
in preparing and holding the 22nd Olympic Winter Games and the 11th Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi;
in creating and developing special economic zones in Russia;
in preparing and holding the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi in 2017;
in preparing and holding the 29th World Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk in 2019;
Worked on preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia;
And worked on preparing and holding the 45th WorldSkills Championship in Kazan in 2019.
Among his awards are: the certificate of honor of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (2004), the certificate of honor of the Russian Government (2009), the "For Assisting the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs" order (2010), the "For Merit" order (2011), the certificate of honor of the Russian Ministry of Crimean Affairs (2015), and the Russian President's Letter of Commendation (2018).
